>>HOTEL BOOKING OPENS ON 1 AUG 2008<<
(Ventura CA 7/26/08) "Commander" Ron Cohen, of the SoCal/SoNev Caravan Organizing Team, announced that on 1
August, Gorilla Travel Network will begin booking rooms for the Southern California/Southern Nevada, North
Texas/Oklahoma and Arkansas/West Tennessee Sections of the 2009 National Corvette Caravan.
Cohen said that hotel rooms for the following dates and locations will be available: 28 Aug 2009--Ontario CA,
29 Aug.--Flagstaff AZ, 30 Aug.--Tucumcari NM, 31 Aug.--Oklahoma City OK, 1 Sept.--Little Rock Arkansas and 2-5
Sept.--either Nashville TN or Bowling Green KY.
There are two ways to contact the Gorilla Travel Network to make bookings. The best way is by emailing Ron at
gorillatravel@aol.com
In your email you must give the following information:
Name and contact info, including phone and email address
Caravan section (SC/SN, N. TX/OK or AR/W. TN) and Caravan registration or "ID" number
Number of rooms
Cities in which you want to book rooms
Dates on which you want to book rooms
Number of people in each room
Special requests (handicap, Internet connection, etc.)
Credit card number and expiration date
The alternative method of contact is to call Gorilla Travel Network at 888-811-APES (2737), however, expect
telephone bookings to take longer.
All beds will be single Kings or Queens. Alternatives (two twins, two Queens, rollaway, etc.) may be
available, but you MUST request them through Ron. All rooms are non-smoking. The Nashville property will be
the Opryland Hotel.
What do you get if you book through Gorilla Travel Network?
First, a discounted rate below the rate for which the general public can book the same room. Secondly, the
people at GTN are experienced in booking hotel/motel space for road tour events. They negotiate with hotel
management about not only price but issues such as: adequate parking for Corvettes, parking security, control of
the property's sprinkler systems, source of water for car washing and efficient pre-registration. That's just
the start of how Gorilla Travel will make hotel booking easy for Caravanners. Everyone reserving rooms through
Gorilla Travel will receive a confirmation of every hotel with rates and complete hotel information.

>>FUND RAISING: TIRE RAFFLES<<
As part of Goodyear's sponsorship of the SoCal/SoNev Caravan, starting in about two weeks, we are going to
begin a series of "raffles" of sets of Goodyear tires. Each will be for a set of any four passenger
car or light truck tires that Goodyear makes, including Corvette tires. Uh, sorry, no tires for 18-wheelers,
race cars, airplanes or road graders.
All proceeds from these raffles will go into the fund the SoCal/SoNev Caravan Organizing Team uses to put on
social events and pay its expenses over the next year or so. After the Caravan is over, any money left in that
fund will be donated to the National Corvette Museum.
Those wanting to ether the raffle will need to email the Organizing Team their name and Caravan registration
number. Each raffle will last a limited amount of time. At the end of that period, the Team will pick a
name/registration number as the winner along with two alternates. The winner will be offered a set of tires for
$800.00. Once the winner's check is received, he/she will get, by return mail, a certificate which is redeemable
at any Goodyear dealer for the tires. We are still working on the final details of this raffle and, by the time
we do the first one, we may have arranged for the mounting and balancing of the tires to be done free-of-charge
by another of the SoCal/SoNev Caravan's sponsors.
We will announce the first tire raffle in the next issue of the SoCal/SoNev Caravan eNews.
>>ENTRIES CLIMB ABOVE 100 CARS<<
(Irvine CA, 7/17/08) "Commander" Sherry Maples, who keeps track of registration-related issues for the
SoCal/SoNev Organizing Team, announced that registrations for the Southern California/Southern Nevada Section of
the 2009 National Corvette Caravan have passed the 100 cars mark. As of the 17th, we have 196 Caravanners and
108 cars signed-up for the SoCal/SoNev Section.
