ALL NATIONAL CORVETTE CARAVAN PARTICIPANTS:

The finishing touches on the Ohio leg of the National Corvette Caravan are almost complete. It is certainly enjoyable to see such enthusiasm this early in the game!

The Ohio Corvette Club Alliance will spearhead the Ohio activities. The Alliance is comprised of 9 Corvette clubs from around Ohio that support each other and have a great history of organization, management and follow through, as well as, hosting the largest All Corvette Show in Ohio in July each year in Lancaster, Ohio.

Darel Bono, from the Corvettes of Hamilton Corvette Cub, has agreed to serve as the Ohio Co-Captain, as he did in 2003.

Other Ohio Corvette clubs involved include: Capital City, Chosen Few, Classic Glass, Corvettes of Lancaster, Cross Flags, National Road, Central Ohio Corvette Owners, and the Southern Ohio Corvette Club(s). The Board of Director of the Alliance, individual club officers and members of all of the Alliance clubs will have a role in the 2009 Caravan.

The Alliance will organize a "Roundup" in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, the day before our arrival date in Bowling Green. That event will start at 4-5:00 p.m.

If you are in Ohio and do not belong to an Alliance club, write us on the Caravan Chat list (sign up link below), or at OhioCaravan09@att.net and we can discuss what you and your club can do to make this Caravan the best ever.

Thursday, September 3, 2009

On Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 8:00 a.m., we will stage in the parking area next to the hotels and leave for Bowling Green via I-71 South. We will travel toward and around the Cincinnati, Ohio area via I-71 and I-275, arriving at the Florence Mall (Northern Kentucky) between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. for a pit-stop. There, we will join up with other Corvette enthusiasts from southern Ohio and northern Kentucky. Snacks, gas, and restrooms are available in this area.

After a short stop, the assembled group will again "hit the road", heading south on I-75 to Lexington, Kentucky. There, we will stop at the beautiful Keeneland (Horse) Race Track for a "Gathering" point to meet other Corvette owners from eastern Kentucky. A catered lunch will be served between 12:30 and 2:00 p.m. You will be catching spectacular views of another kind of "horsepower" all along the way. Restrooms, gas, and mechanical assistance will be available in the area for those who need it.

Our combined Caravan will then proceed along the Blue Grass Parkway to I-65 and south to Bowling Green, arriving at the National Corvette Museum at around 3:00 p.m. Bowling Green time (we gain an hour).

Things to do now:

  1. Securing hotel rooms has proven to be a problem. If you haven't made reservations yet, you probably should. Contact the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau for assistance. You can reach them at 1-800-326-7465 or visit their website at: http://www.visitbgky.com/caravan/ for up-to-date hotel information. Reportedly, rooms will become available closer to the event. So, you can take your chances and wait - if you feel lucky.
  2. Register with the National Corvette Museum for the Labor Day weekend event at: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/. That registration is open now. And, keep watching the National website for further details about the scheduling of events.
  3. Register for the 09 Caravan, if you haven't already done so. It will help us to know how many cars and people to plan for and help us stay in touch with you. Do this at: http://www.corvettecaravan.com/.
  4. If you have questions regarding the caravan or are interested in volunteering to help, please contact our website and we will do our best to take care of you.
  5. If you would like to purchase Caravan 09 cling-on decals and Caravan window flags, please write us at: OhioCaravan09@att.net

We are planning activities that will make the event and the drive to Bowling Green a memorable and exciting one. We hope you will be a part of it.
