Attention Corvette Enthusiasts:
Get ready for the 2019 caravan!! If you did not go to the 20th National Corvette Museum Anniversary in 2014, please don’t miss the 25th Anniversary of the National Corvette Museum in 2019. This will be a milestone event in National Corvette Museum’s history.
Mark your calendars for August 26 – September 1, 2019.
Hello, I’m Rick Creekmore and I’ll be heading up the August 2019 National Corvette Museum (NCM) Southern Texas Corvette Caravan! Here’s your chance to join other Corvette enthusiasts from Southern Texas for the 25th Anniversary of the NCM by participating in the 2019 Corvette Caravan. We will have exciting events planned along the way!
My wife, Cheri, and I went to the 20th Anniversary NCM caravan and had a super time. We also led a group of Texas Corvette Association members from the San Antonio area back to the NCM in 2015 for another fun filled road trip. I’m a retired Air Force Colonel who just loves to be with other corvette people. We have a 1964 silver corvette convertible, which we drove 1,000 miles on the 2014 trip to the NCM, and a 2011 black corvette convertible.

Tentative schedule of events for the 25th Anniversary of the National Corvette Museum
Day 1 – Monday, August 26th
The initial plan is to form two caravans, one near San Antonio and the other near Houston. The San Antonio area caravan will leave Monday morning, August 26, 2019 and travel to Ft. Worth where we will stay the evening at the Marriott Hotel & Golf Club at Champions Circle. The Texas Motor Speedway is right next door and tours have been set up to drive our corvettes to pit road, victory lane etc. Track Vans will drive our group 2.5 laps around the NASCAR track.
Day 2 – Tuesday, August 27th
The Houston area caravan will depart from north Houston. The San Antonio area caravan will leave Ft Worth with a police escort and travel to Texarkana where we will meet up with the Houston area caravan. The combined caravan will travel on to Little Rock, AR. We have 170 rooms booked for our joined caravan at Four Points by Sheraton near I-630 in Little Rock. The Southern Texas Caravan, and several other Corvette Caravans from across the country, will have an early evening event with food and beverages at Bales Chevrolet, very close to the hotel, then the Southern Texas caravan goes back to the Sheraton for a social.
Day 3 – August 28th
The combined caravan will depart, with a police escort, from the Four Points and travel to Bowling Green Kentucky.
Day 4-7 – August 29-September 1
This will be your opportunity to see the museum, go on daily driving tours to caves, distilleries, and other things the Museum has planned. There will also be tours available at the Corvette factory right across the street as well as hot laps and touring laps on the motorsports park.
We will have exciting and fun events during our four days at the NCM and Bowling Green.
Note: for the trip home, everyone is on their own but if someone would like to set up a tour back please let me know – we will advertise these tours to the Southern Texas members.
The Southern Texas Team
Several volunteers will be working with us to make this a fun and memorable trip. From the Houston, Beaumont-Port Arthur Area your Leader is Suzanne Ansley. Suzanne will be coordinating events and is heading up the Houston area Day 1 caravan.
Gary Blum is our sponsor chair (we need to raise a few thousand dollars – business card ads in the route book etc. to help defray the cost for the book and the other trip items).
Terri Butler will be our lead in preparing the route book, Flyers, etc.
Maureen Pisano is our Social Director – you have to have fun on a road trip! She will do a great job.
Lyn Blum is our recording secretary insuring records are kept to monitor our progress
Cheri Creekmore is our hotel manager
My wife, Cheri, booked a block of rooms at the Marriott Hotel & Golf Club for the San Antonio area caravan for Monday, August 26 and booked 170 rooms in Little Rock AR for Tuesday August 27 as earlier described. Cheri has also booked over 200 rooms at five hotels in or near Bowling Green, KY for Wednesday, August 28 – Saturday, August 31, 2019.
50 rooms are in Bowling Green at the Clarion Hotel which is seven miles from the NCM.
Three hotels are located in Glasgow, KY which is 29 miles, or 32 minutes from the National Corvette Museum (NCM) – breakfast is included: 40 rooms are at the Quality Inn (was the Comfort Inn); 40 rooms are also booked at the Days Inn; and 20 rooms booked at the Four Seasons Country Inn. Details about Four Seasons:
Cheri, booked another 70 rooms at the Barren River Lake Resort in Lucas, KY which is 28 miles or 40 minutes, from the NCM – Breakfast is not included; however there is a restaurant at the Lodge. These rooms include 51 rooms at their Lodge, 10 standard cottages (2 bedrooms with 4 beds and full kitchen) and 9 deluxe cottages (2 bedrooms with 4 queen size beds, full kitchen, living and dining area, 2 bathrooms). For details go to:
Details on how you book your rooms will be provided when you sign up for the Southern Texas Caravan at your local club or by emailing Rick, if you will be joining the San Antonio area caravan or Suzanne, for the Houston areas caravan.
We will be compiling all this and much more into a Route Book that will be available to registered participants in the spring of 2019.
If you would like to volunteer to help me in this venture, contact me as soon as possible. We will also be looking for sponsors to help defray some of the costs.

Banners are popular and a great way for a business or club to show their support for the caravan. Banners are 3′ x 10′ on vinyl with brass grommets for displaying. They can be printed with the business or club logo and signed by participants. Contact Gary Blum for information on pricing.
Advertising is very important to our Caravan.
Please help us keep costs to a minimum. If you know of a local business in your area that would benefit from advertising their businesses in our Corvette Caravan Route Book, or on this website, please email Gary Blum. Your local Corvette Clubs are also welcomed to advertise or you may also place a personal Ad in our Route Book. What better way for a business to reach this large and passionate group of consumers, The Corvette Enthusiast, than by advertising with us. Personal sponsorships are also very much welcomed and appreciated.
