First Day – Monday, August 26, 2019:
On Monday groups from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Central Canada will be forming and traveling to Chula Vista Resort, Wisconsin Dells, WI
Central Canada will be led by Jim Matthew (firstname.lastname@example.org). Details of staging time and location will be forthcoming.
We are pleased to have Owen Michelson (OlMichelson@cableone.net) back as the Co-Captain in charge of the North Dakota portion of the caravan. He was a key contributor in the success of the 2009 and 2014 caravans.
We would anticipate that the Central Canada enthusiasts will meet the North Dakota Caravan at Gateway Chevrolet in Fargo, ND to travel to Chula Vista Resort via Minnesota to join with Corvettes from that area.
Groups will be staging at Merit Chevrolet, www.meritchev.com, I-94 & Century Ave, 2695Broookview Dr., St. Paul, MN, hosted by Chris Rinkel.
Groups from the southern part of Minnesota will gather at a location close to the south-east corner of the state and also travel to Chula Vista Resort.
Corvettes from the South Dakota area will be led by returning Co-Captain Clair Steiner (email@example.com) and will also travel to Chula Vista Resort.
The Corvettes of the Pacific Northwest Caravan, led by Ken Thomas and his wife Kathi will join the South Dakota Caravan in South Dakota. The Pacific Northwest Caravan will bring Corvettes from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana & Alaska to Sioux Falls on August 28.

Corvettes from UP Michigan and upper Wisconsin will travel to Chula Vista Resort or the Milwaukee area to stay overnight. In addition, Corvettes from Western Canada (Alberta, British Columbia) led by Captain Paul Maciejowski, firstname.lastname@example.org will join the Pacific Northwest Caravan and also travel to Chula Vista Resort.
The address of the Chula Vista Resort is:
2501 N. River Rd.
Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965
Chula Vista Resort, www.chulavistaresort.com, is one of the Midwest’s premier resorts, and an ideal overnight/staging site for participants who want to take this route. It is also a great place to spend the day before the official Caravan begins.
On Monday afternoon, August 26, 2019, participants may spend time at the Dells Raceway Track and drive hot laps on the 1/3 Mile paved oval. This is not a lead-follow event like some racetracks. This is just you and/or your co-pilot and the track. Ladies, take your turn also. You decide how fast and how slow to drive – drive as many laps as you want also – it is exciting!!
Or, participate in the many activities at the resort, including the waterpark, golf, swimming or simply relaxing or touring Wisconsin Dells – Hundreds of ways to have fun!
That evening at Chula Vista Resort, there will be a meet and greet followed by a dinner at the Resort with a presentation about the next two days activities and also the activities at the National Corvette Museum once the caravan arrives.
Chula Vista Resort will have a special price for a room for the evening. This package would also include free hors d’oeuvres and cocktails (beer, wine, cocktails) for 1 hour followed with dinner in a private dining room with other Caravan participants. The package will also include a free cold continental breakfast from 6:00am – 7:00am on Tuesday morning, prior to departure.
Please call Chula Vista Resort at 877-540-2670 after August 26, 2018 and refer to booking code F83502 to receive the special package rate of $179.00 couple/$149.00 single plus taxes and fees for reception, dinner and room on Monday, August 26, 2019.
Caravan check-in will begin on Monday, August 26 at 6:00pm at the reception/dinner and staging will begin the next morning at 7:00 am with departure time probably at 7:30am.
Groups from Chicago and Surrounding Areas of Joliet
Monday August 26th:
Check into the Harrah’s Hotel and Casino in the heart of historic downtown Joliet. Tour the city and the many sites it has to offer. Monday evening, share stories and fun with other caravan participants at the meet and greet and learn more about the caravan.
Tuesday morning the group will meet at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet at 7:30am. There will be a small fee ($20.00 in 2014) to get in and do some laps. The café will be open. We will leave there about 10-10:30am and caravan to Bloomington, IL where we will meet up with the other groups for lunch at Leman’s Chevy City.
Here is a link for additional info on directions to the Autobahn as the GPS does not always work well in this new industrial area: http://www.autobahncc.com/Information.html#Directions
This group is headed up by Co-Captains Ron and Jan Arends. On Monday, August 26th they will meet at Karl’s Chevrolet in Ankeny Iowa at 8:00 AM for coffee and goodies. Word has it that you might see a new Corvette/Camaro. Then a tour of the Hot Rod Shop, and possibly an extensive Corvette collection nearby. After that the group will head out to Brooklyn, Iowa for lunch at a neat little Deli.
After lunch the group will travel east to Le Claire, Iowa to the meet and greet on the levee at 6:30 PM. Ron and Jan did a great job with this group in the 2014 Caravan and are looking forward to another successful and fun trip. Other activities in Le Claire to be forthcoming. The group will spend the night and depart on Tuesday morning from the LeClaire staging area to Bloomington, IL via I-74.
Second Day – Tuesday, August 27, 2019:
The Caravan from Chula Vista Resort will depart early in the morning for Bloomington, IL. We will begin at 7:00am and the Caravan with take a short scenic drive through the Wisconsin countryside and then the caravan will travel the interstate system for a trip to Bloomington, Illinois for a catered lunch at Leman’s Chevy City, part of Sam Leman Automotive Group, one of the largest Chevrolet dealers in downstate Illinois. Gas will also be available next door to Leman’s Chevy City.
A Caravan from the Milwaukee area will also leave from Lynch Chevrolet of Mukwonago, WI at about this time and merge with the Chula Vista Caravan on I-39 just before the Illinois border.
We then plan to meet some of the Illinois Caravan at Maggio’s Auto & Truck Center, just south of Rockford where we will stop for a rest stop. Both groups will then caravan along the I-39 corridor heading towards Bloomington. This will be a fun group!!
We anticipate that Caravans from Chicago, Joliet, Naperville, Peoria, West Dundee, Central Iowa, North Central Iowa and Western Iowa will all converge in Bloomington, IL for lunch.
We are happy to have the State of Colorado Caravan led by Captains Dave Effler and Keith Bennett arrive to join us for lunch and join the Caravan.
| Dave Effler

Aug 26, 2019 – Grand Island, NE to Davenport, IA

Overnight in Effingham –
We will stop for the evening at Effingham where hotels will be reserved. Information on these available hotels will be posted later.
After you check in at your hotel and freshen up a bit, everyone will head out to Mid America Motorworks and a great buffet dinner.
We are planning that the buffet will be catered by Niemerg’s Steakhouse. In 2014 the menu was Fried Chicken and BBQ Pork Loin. Mashed Potatoes & Brown Gravy, Corn, Green Beans, Noodles, Cole Slaw, 7 Layer Salad, Rolls & Butter. Desert was an assortment of Niemberg’s famous Homemade Pies. Coffee, Ice Tea & Lemonade. Real Plates, Silverware, Cups. This will be great way to finish the day chatting with like minded people, sharing stories of the road and those Corvettes we all love. Yes, once again we will have entertainment, music and dancing!! The evening buffet at Mid America Motorworks is optional and all money will collected at the door. The price will be announced later.
Third Day – Wednesday, August 28, 2019
On Wednesday morning we will meet at Mid America in Effingham and spend some time there browsing around before staging again for the next leg of the caravan which takes us to our destination, the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky. We will leave Mid America Motorworks in the morning and (I57 and I64) travel to Poseyville, Indiana and stop at the Red Wagon Restaurant for their fabulous buffet.
We will leave the Red Wagon Restaurant in the early afternoon when we are released by the Museum staff so that we arrive at the museum at our scheduled time. We should have a Kentucky State Trooper lead us in from the Kentucky border. We will have a parade lap around the museum and you are encouraged to stop in and pick up your caravan packet.
A handbook will be generated that contains our routes, stops, hotels etc. and will be emailed out to the caravanners prior to the event.
2019 NCM Celebration/Caravan Registration: Registration is not yet open; we will keep you informed as to when it is open.
Hotel Info for Bowling Green:
Please click on the following link for information about Lodging for the 2019 Caravan. If you are planning to go on this adventure (truly an awesome event) you need to think about rooms in Bowling Green or the Bowling Green Area. This site will be updated as time goes on especially 1 year out form the event.
The North Central Caravan only was able to block rooms for its Captains, Co-Captains, Local Leaders, Sponsors and “Friends of the Caravan”.
In 2014 there was initial difficulty in obtaining rooms; however, there eventually rooms were available for all who wanted to go on the Caravan. For 2019, there are more rooms available than in 2014 and while it may be hard to book a room, we are sure that rooms will be available.
The National Corvette Museum will be updating this site frequently and we encourage everyone to call their favorite hotel as soon as possible.
We will have a large block of rooms available in Effingham, IL so there is no need to worry about rooms there for overnight on Tuesday, August 27.
Also, please visit our North Central Corvette Caravan Facebook page.
Assembly Plant Tours
The Bowling Green Assembly Plant will be offering tours during the Caravan. Will update when info becomes available. You can visit the site at: http://www.bowlinggreenassemblyplant.com/.

We would like to thank these SPONSORS:
To All Caravan Participants:
On behalf of PPG Industries (the world’s leading coatings and specialty products company), and Single Source (one of the largest PPG Platinum Distributors), we want to welcome you to the 2019 Corvette Caravan and the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Corvette Museum. Wow this is a big one and very special. Congratulations to the Museum and Corvette owners everywhere.
Our love for the Corvette runs deep, and as you all know, our 1999 Indy Pace Car which we donated to the Museum became part of history when it ended up in the “Sink Hole”. We understand that it will be on display at the Museum along with others that were recovered.
We are still saddened by the fate of our car, but realize that we will always be a part of your Museum and its history.
We were there to support you in 2014 and are very proud to support you in 2019 for this historical movement of Corvettes.
Wishing all of you a wonderful and safe trip.
